Maker/Restoration
Duncan MacDonald has been a restorer, repairer and maker of violins, violas and cellos in the Seattle area for 30 years. He made his first instrument as a teenager, played viola in the Portland Youth Symphony and is a 10 year member of American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers and 20 year member of The Violin Society of America with multiple awards as an instrument maker.
He has studied the great Italian masters and is now using Stradivari and Guarneri models for his instrument making. His clients include both professional and student musicians who play them in performance and recording venues.
He also has vast experience restoring precious string instruments that after hundreds of years of playing require work to continue to be played and to retain their value. He is sought out as a restorer with technical attention to detail that has rendered new life to these works of art from master makers.
